Yale-Proxima Mentorship Program
This is a 10-month (March-December) virtual mentoring program, supported by Yale University, that will culminate with the in person Seminars in Biomedical Sciences in Brazil. Through interactive discussions, this program will introduce students to critical practices, skills and strategies necessary to become leaders in their research field. The 3-day in person Seminars will create meaningful connections between these young talents and leading scientists from around the world and will allow them to consolidate the networking skills learned along the virtual program. This program is a partnership between Iniciativa Proxima and Yale Program in Biological and Biomedical Sciences (BBS), Yale Office of International Affairs (OIA), CAPES-Yale Graduate Scholars Program, and the Yale Poorvu Center for Teaching and Learning.
We are excited to announce that the 2021 Edition of the Yale-Proxima Mentorship Program received 225 applications in its first call for applications. The selected 25 mentees will be announced on February 22 and the program will officially launch in March. Applications were accepted during the month of January for Brazilian undergraduate and Master’s-level students with interests in biological and biomedical sciences.
“We were thrilled with the high demand and the quality of the applications. Seeing how much talent there is in Brazil motivates us even more to carry out this program and other projects that aim to offer training opportunities for young people,” said the project coordinator, Dr. Mariana Nigro.
